Unable to export tracks in bulk

I want to export all my tracks as gpx/kml files. When I select 1~10 tracks and click the export button (arrow in the top right corner), the tracks are exported correctly.

When I select 10+ tracks, export stops after about 10 tracks. Only 10 files are created.

Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to reproduce this issue on any of our test Android devices: selecting more than 10 tracks and exporting them as GPX/KML still creates all the files as expected.

To help us narrow this down, it would be useful to know:

1. Does the export always stop after exactly 10 tracks, or does the number vary?
2. Does it seem to stop at a particular track (for example, one with special characters in the name/description, a very long description, or an unusual date/time)?
3. Do you see any error message, or does the app just silently stop creating new files?

In principle, having the exportation of your full tracklist (v3.3.0 added the ability to export the tracklist as ZIP file) would make it much easier to try to reproduce the problem on our side, but we completely understand that it contains a lot of location data that most people generally don’t want to share, even with developers. That’s why we usually avoid asking for it.

If you can provide a bit more detail about the track(s) where the export stops (names, name length, any special characters, etc.), we can try to construct a similar test set on our devices.

1. The number varies. It stops after 10-20 minutes of exporting. 2. It doesn't stop at any particular track. 3. No error message. App silently stops. My guess is that the OS silently puts the app to sleep after 10-20 minutes, even if I plug in the phone, have Stay Awake enabled, and keep the app in the foreground. The app's export process is slow. I have a separate question about "Backup Tracklist". How do I read the database file created in the zip?

Great, thanks for the very useful information.

The exporter is one of the highly optimized tasks of the app, and it should process more than 5000 points/s (in a quite recent phone) when you export tracks as GPX/KML. As example, the app should export a 10000 trackpoints track in approx 2 seconds.
10-20 minutes of exporting is a very long time and you could have right about the background stop, because Android is becoming aggressive with background processes.
Do you export a huge amount of data, or the performances of your exportation are much slower than 5000 points/s?

database file created in the zip?

The ZIP file contains a file called GPSLogger, that is a standard SqLite database file. You can open it with any program that can read databases tables (also LibreOffice, OpenOffice and MS Office can do it).
The ZIP file also includes the thumbnails of the tracks, as used into the app.
