Since Google only allows 500 characters for feedback, I'm posting a new entry here:

I've found a bug:
"External link handling" in the "regular" setting opens the browser, but not the link. It only works if the browser is running in the background. It works in the "prompt" setting, but I don't want to have to confirm every time.

Another issue I'm not sure about: if I've opened a pinned link from the browser's home screen, I can't return to the home screen with the shortcuts using the device's back button.

Three suggestions for improvement:

• "Show all shortcuts on the home screen" should be an option to enable

• The download folder should be configurable

• A button to switch between dark and light mode would be nice.

Hello Manfred and thank you for the feedback! Sometimes it is about the details and I already implemented your suggestions. Please try the new alpha build: https://github.com/FaFre/WebLibre/releases/tag/v0.40.0-alpha-2 (you can install it side by side to stable and restore a backup from main if you like) and let me know how it works for you. If anything new is coming up please feel free to just open a dedicated issue for each suggestion/bug which makes it a bit easier to manage.

i Installed the alpha build, thanks a lot. "External link handling" is working fine; the shortcuts on the home screen now all remain visible. The only issue is that opening new tabs still doesn't behave the way one is used to with most other browsers:

When I open a link (the first one after launching the browser), the browser's "back" button isn't active yet . If I use the device's back button, I do return to the browser's home screen, but the URL of the visited page remains in the address bar (Picture 1). With the second or third tab I open, pressing the back button closes the tab entirely instead of navigating to the home screen within that tab (Picture 2).

In other browsers (I'm comparing this with Vivaldi and Elixir Browser), the home screen always opens in a tab; Web Libre doesn't do this. That is likely the cause of the issue.

I prefer a setting where I don't see tabs from the previous session upon startup—essentially a blank start page. Vivaldi and Elixir take different approaches to this: Vivaldi closes tabs upon exit, which seems to work smoothly. Elixir takes the same path as Web Libre, closing tabs upon startup; however, this leads to conflicts when opening the app if the "Minimize app when the last tab is closed" option is enabled. This could potentially become a problem for Web Libre as well.

Also, Elixir sometimes opens two tabs at startup.

Perhaps these problems could be avoided by changing the setting to close open tabs when the browser is closed, rather than when it is opened. That way, there would be no conflicts when launching the app.
