Update notification always appears #751

🐛 Description

The update notification appears when the extension updates even though I have the "update notification" box unchecked.

🔀 Steps To Reproduce

Due to the nature of the bug there's not an easy way to reproduce it (at least not for me without a dev environment and so on). I guess you could always just uncheck the box and wait for a normal update, and if you ever get a notification after that, there's the bug. Or, potentially more reliably, wipe the extension's data so you're starting with a fresh install, since the problem could be with the default behavior showing the notification as disabled but not actually disabling it properly.

✔️ Expected behavior

If the "update notification" box is unchecked, I should not get an update notification.

Experienced on:

• Linux Mint 22.3 - Firefox 149.0
• Linux Mint - Chrome
• Android - Firefox
• Android - Kiwi Browser

I can get the other version numbers if you want but I don't think it's relevant.

I've experienced this bug for a long time on all my devices - probably at least 6 months or so, maybe longer.
