Mark Smith

IT infrastructure and security. Navy and Army veteran based in El Paso, TX.

I like building and securing networks. I hold a B.S. in Computer Science from UTSA and have 9 years of military service, including Navy network and server operations. Today I do IT support and vulnerability assessments for managed clients, and I build and secure networks in my home lab

Certifications: CompTIA Security+, CompTIA PenTest+, CompTIA CNVP, HITRUST CCSFP. Hack The Box Penetration Tester path in progress.

Projects

modular-installer: a dark-themed WPF winget installer and system updater in a single PowerShell script. Pick apps, install them with live streamed logs, update apps and Windows, and build it into a double-click .exe.

Segmented home network and lab: an OPNsense firewall on N100 hardware separating Main, IoT, and Lab networks, with AdGuard DNS filtering on Ubuntu Server and Tailscale for remote access.
