Steam theme or interface looks too dark for me on my HDTV

Here's my feedback... Switched to Steam OS 3.9.0 on my PC with AMD cpu / igpu, with HDMI connection. Its default theme or appearance is too dark for my Sony HDTV, which is OLED type. Same issue when switching to desktop mode. In Steam (game mode screen), I tried to turn up the brightness but it looks even worse-- ended up with more monochromatic look.

My HDTV looks much better with Steam OS on either 3.8.x Beta or 3.7.x Stable version. Has proper colors and contrasts in their places.

Go into the display settings, there is a drop-down to change the video levels between PC and Video levels. It needs to match what your TV is using. See if that fixes it..

If it doesn't, try changing the refresh rate. I'm on 3.8 and on my monitor I get black crush despite the drop-down unless I increase the refresh rate higher. I cannot use 60 hz on hdmi as-is due to the black crush, but weirdly the issue does not exist on the displayport at 60.
