Fixes #4118

HandleOAuth2DeviceAuthorizationRequest copied r.Form onto the synthetic authorize request. Device verification is a GET, so r.Form is empty until ParseForm, and query values such as prompt=login and max_age=0 never reached requestAuthentication. A remembered login session could then skip authentication on a later device flow.

Copy r.URL.Query() instead. A regression in TestStrategyDeviceLoginConsent runs two device flows with the same cookie jar, appends prompt=login&max_age=0 on the second verification URL, and asserts skip=false.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes

    • Device authorization requests now correctly preserve URL parameters such as prompt, max_age, and id_token_hint.
    • Device-flow re-authentication now works as expected when explicitly requested.
  • Tests

    • Added coverage for login prompts and forced re-authentication during repeated device authorization flows.

Device verification is GET, so r.Form stays empty. Copy r.URL.Query() so prompt=login and max_age=0 reach login.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The device verification flow now copies GET query parameters into the synthetic authorization request. A regression test verifies that prompt=login and max_age=0 require re-authentication during a second device flow.

Changes

Device verification query propagation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Forward query parameters and validate re-authentication
consent/strategy_default.go, consent/strategy_oauth_test.go
The device authorization handler copies r.URL.Query() into the authorization request form. The regression test verifies that explicit login parameters prevent skipped authentication.

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to bdb81

This localized fix restores device-verification query parameters so remembered sessions honor explicit re-authentication requests. The regression test should separately verify max_age=0 because the current combined prompt=login case could pass even if max_age handling remains broken; the PR is otherwise mergeable with owner awareness.

Linked Issues check ✅ Passed The implementation changes r.Form to r.URL.Query(), which directly satisfies issue #4118. The regression test verifies prompt=login reauthentication with a shared cookie jar and skip=false.
Out of Scope Changes check ✅ Passed The changes are limited to query propagation in device verification and a focused regression test. No unrelated code changes are identified.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Test max_age=0 independently.

prompt=login routes directly to authentication before max_age is parsed. This combined case can pass if max_age propagation is broken. Add a max_age=0-only follow-up flow and assert that its authentication time is newer than the first flow.
